A quick submission for this week’s Illustration Friday theme. This is something I did awhile back. I’ve been enjoying the roadside weeds this week — especially the masses of tall, leggy weeds with tiny little purple flowers.
Beautiful piece! I’m so glad that I happened upon a fellow scribe. My blog is scribed too. I’ll make a mental note of you so that I’ll find you in future posts.
PS: Perhaps you know Toni Kelly. She’s an Illustration Friday regular who’s also a scribe and artist. You two have so much in common.
Beth,
This is an especially nice piece. I’m picturing it quite small, maybe about 4×8? It’s lovely in it’s simplicity, with a perfect subtle illustration to match the quote. Love it!

Hi Beth
Love your pointed italic. Very graceful. beautiful piece. I see you met Bron! If you haven’t checked out his blog ‘The Trowbridge Cronicles’ you should.
I just love his stories of Violet. And when you get time go back to his past posts and read them.
Thanks, everyone, for the comments. Yes, the “Weeds” pieces was about 3″ x 6″, as I recall. I don’t have it anymore, but I do have other similar pieces. For about a month in October last year, I tried to do a finished piece a day. It was a great experience, really.
So nice to see more calligraphers blogging. I just saw Christopher Haanes’ blog. Have y’all seen it?
